TRAFFIC SKILLS FOR CYCLISTS
Become A Better Bike Rider. Ride Safely and With More Confidence!
New Haven Coalition for Active Transportation (NHCAT) will offer two Traffic Skills 101 classes for cyclists who know how to ride a bike on, Saturday April 20 and Saturday, May 11. This one-day class will offer instruction to help you build skills and confidence while learning more about traffic laws in Connecticut, crash avoidance, lane positioning, and basic bike maintenance. Over the course of the day you will develop your knowledge, expertise and ability to use a bicycle safely, confidently, and competently for commuting, utility, health, and recreation. While the class is intended for all people who can ride a bike and want to improve their skills, it is also a prerequisite for becoming a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) of the League of American Bicyclists.

FEE - The class will cost $60 which can be paid during registration, a check by mail, or at the beginning of the class.
WHERE – Bradley Street Bicycle Coop
AGE REQUIREMENT – Youth 16 to 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian must register and pay for the class and remain with the youth at all times during the day.
Both classes will be held from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday, April 20 and Saturday, May 11.

A bike helmet. New helmets will be available for $20 for those who need to purchase one.
All participants are requested to bring a bagged lunch so the class can continue and finish promptly at 4:00pm.
LEAGUE OF AMERICAN BICYCLISTS - Traffic Skills 101 is part of the “Smart Cycling” curriculum of the League of American Bicyclists, the only nationally recognized cycling education program with trained and certified instructors. The class is a prerequisite for becoming a League Cycling Instructor (LCI).
